A couple friends of mine have projecting a line called “Left El Camino.” This line is supposed to go around V7 but could be considered one of the tweakiest lines at Mckinney Falls. Some consider it harder than “queer junkies” and “trapeze freak”- which are graded one to two grades more. This is seth anglin almost sticking the awful sloper for the send.
Mountain-project describes this problem:
“Start on low slots with your feet behind a big broken off part of the wall. Move straight up to one of the tweakiest holds around. Come into a good dish, establish, dyno to the slopey lip for a difficult top out.”

•February 15, 2012 • Leave a CommentNew Shoes! Psyched to try these out. Their new foam technology in the sole should provide amazing grip on rock, even in wet conditions. They are catered to mountain running, with phenomenal support and an upper that really molds to my foot. I will mainly test these for long approaches to climbs on tough terrain- but will also test trail running
Granite Gems in Texas
•February 13, 2012 • Leave a CommentEnchanted Rock is a full scale granite playground. Hundreds of people flock to this destination mainly to camp, picnic & hike the summit trail to the top of the main dome. Climbers will discover amazing crack climbing, often free solo’d, surrounded by beautifully sculpted granite boulders. This area could almost be described as a Texas version of a small-scale Joshua Tree, but unfortunately the rock quality is sub-par. However, the lines that are good- are REALLY good; and stand out as true gems in the state of Texas. I feel truly grateful to have visited and climbed in this area. These are photos from a recent Saturday spent with friends climbing, filming, and hiking on these enchanted rocks.

•January 24, 2012 • Leave a CommentHad an awesome trip to Hueco yet again. I am consistently impressed by not only the number of climbers, but the number of hard climbers that travel to Hueco from across the globe. Aside from the multitude of boulders and amazing quality of rock, this magical place is host to some of the worlds hardest boulder problems, hardest boulderers, and quite an amazing community of people sharing the same passion: rock climbing.
Whether you stay for the season or are a weekend warrior, there is no shortage of lines to keep you coming back.
This trip took us to the North & East Mountain.
Climbers/Boulder Problems include but not limited to:
Travis Mull, Jackson Adair, Kate Davenport, Brad Saunders, Ben Conners, & Jim.
With sends of No one gets out of ere alive, melon patch, t-bone shuffle, lobster claw, choir boys, warm up roof, moonshine roof, hobbit in a blender, king cobra & rudy. Other problems shown here are: julio and me, dragonfly & ultramega.

The Architects of Air
•January 18, 2012 • Leave a CommentI had a chance to visit the installation currently going on in Austin, TX. Quite spectacular. Below is an exerpt from their website describing the experience…photos below…
“Visitors remove their shoes before entering an airlock. Once inside they can wander freely or just lay back and enjoy the ambience of the structure.
The first reaction is often one of delight at the unexpected beauty of the light.
The radiance of the daylight transmitted by the coloured pvc of the luminarium is surprising in its luminosity and makes a direct impact on the senses.
Through labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, visitors move in a medium of saturated and subtle hues. Vivid reflections of liquid colour spill across the curved walls creating a world apart from the normal and everyday.
Visitors are excited to discover how different colours blend or resonate; how they transform faces and clothing. Some explore, following their maps through the maze immersing themselves in radiant colour.
No two visits to a structure are alike as the atmosphere inside alters according to changing weather and changing light outside. The experience is also affected by how the public inhabits the luminarium.
It is a paradox that such a stimulating environment can simultaneously be so calming. Many people find the luminaria a place for rest or meditation.
Visitors try to put their experience into words – comparing the experience to being in a futuristic space station or the human body.
Sometimes the structure may be animated by a musician or a storyteller but, more often, the space is enjoyed in its simplicity. As such, it is appreciated by people of all ages from all backgrounds
In the course of the exhibition as many as 2000 visitors per day may have passed through the luminarium to have been touched by a sense of wonder at the beauty of light and color.”
